Restricting movement is a great way to control the battlefield. If a creature is in the area when you cast the spell, they must succeed in a strength saving throw or be restrained. This whole area becomes rugged terrain, thus decreasing the movement speed of anyone in this area. When casting this spell, you produce a mass of sprouting vines in a 20ft square. This first level spell doesn’t deal any direct damage, but it makes it a lot easier for you to attack your foes. Meaning that if you didn’t want to, your adventuring party wouldn’t have to spend all that hard-earned gold on food. As well as this, goodberries provide enough nourishment for a whole day. This 1st level spell may not provide as many hit points as heal wounds or cure wounds, but it does give any creature that consumes it to regain one hit point, similar to giving a Pokémon a berry. This spell is often dismissed, but if you ever wanted your character to be like a Pokémon trainer, this spell might make you feel like that. This spell also comes in handy if you ever plan on choosing the feat of ‘ polearm master’ for your character. Shillelagh helps with this as you can use this cantrip on a club or quarterstaff so that rather than adding a strength modifier to your attack roll, you add your spellcasting modifier. Why would they when they can turn into a bear? But it does mean that your melee combat can become a lot trickier. Many druids do not put strength as their highest stat, and that makes sense. This is only a cantrip, but it is by far one of the most valuable cantrips out there. Here are, in my opinion, some of the best spells you can choose for your druid. All these variant benefits only apply for Whild Shaping into creatures whose remains are affixed to the periapt. There's also a variant that removes Wild Shape limit-per-day. Many of them basically allow the druid to turn into certain things earlier than would be allowed (things with swimming or flying speed) or turn into things other than beasts (oozes, plants). If you choose to let the players find this item you might want to have it pre-fitted with some interesting creature remains.

So the item should look like a collar, necklace, arm-band, or something like that. The periapt is designed to be wearable while in Wild Shape form, because items that merge into Wild Shape form don't function. I won't paste it all here as that would bloat this comment, but let me paraphrase some of the more useful tidbits. This item's got some extra notes and variants. If the periapt is removed while you are in Wild Shape form and you would be unable to achieve that form without the periapt, you automatically revert to your normal form. In addition, your challenge rating limit for Wild Shape either increases by 1, or it doubles whichever provides the lower result.

You may transform into a beast affixed to the periapt even if you haven’t seen it before. While you wear this periapt, requirements for Wild Shape are altered, but only for transforming into beasts whose remains are affixed to the periapt. Exceeding this limit will suppress the magic of the amulet. The remains of up to three distinct types of creature may be fitted to the periapt. a tooth, a claw, a small bone, a cured ear, a feather). You may fit this periapt with small pieces from the remains of any beast (e.g. Periapt of Wild Shape Wondrous item, uncommon (requires attunement by a druid) I'm (mostly) aiming for low-powered, but still useful.
